How to detect and identify the signs of failure of the meter?

meter-1

What are the indicators of instrument failure?

meter-2

Overpressure

The pointer of the instrument stops on the stop pin, indicating that its working pressure is close to or exceeds its rated pressure. This means that the pressure range of the installed instrument is not suitable for the current application and cannot reflect the system pressure. Therefore, the Bourdon tube may rupture and cause the meter to fail completely.

meter-3

Pressure spike

When you see that the pointer of the meter is bent, broken or split, the meter may be affected by a sudden increase in system pressure, which is caused by the opening/closing of the pump cycle or the opening/closing of the upstream valve. Excessive force hitting the stop pin may damage the pointer. This sudden change in pressure can cause Bourdon tube rupture and instrument failure.

meter-43

Mechanical vibration

Miscalibration of the pump, reciprocating movement of the compressor, or improper installation of the instrument can cause loss of the pointer, window, window ring or back plate. The instrument movement is connected to the Bourdon tube, and vibration will destroy the movement components, which means that the dial no longer reflects the system pressure. Using liquid tank filling will inhibit movement and eliminate or reduce avoidable vibrations in the system. Under extreme system conditions, please use a shock absorber or a meter with a diaphragm seal.

meter-5

Pulsate

The frequent and rapid circulation of liquid in the system will cause wear on the moving parts of the instrument. This will affect the ability of the meter to measure pressure, and the reading will be indicated by a vibrating needle.

meter-6

Temperature is too high/overheating

If the meter is installed incorrectly or is too close to overheated system liquids/gases or components, the dial or liquid tank may be discolored due to failure of the meter components. The increase in temperature will cause the metal Bourdon tube and other instrument components to bear stress, which will cause pressure to the pressure system and affect the measurement accuracy.
